Great Schools Partnership is celebrating our 12th anniversary serving as a free-standing, tax-exempt organization working to make Knox County Schools globally competitive.
Great Schools Partnership (GSP) was formed in 2005 as an outgrowth of the “Every School a Great School” symposium to align efforts by leaders from the public and private sectors. The shared vision is to take Knox County Schools from good to great, with coordination through a single agency.
We believe that education is the key to our economic future. Our county commissioners and school board members want to create the best large school system in the Southeast. Setting a high goal is easy; realizing it takes courage, sacrifice and determination. With Great Schools Partnership, Knox County is quickly being positioned as a national example for exceptional education – in our students, teachers, facilities and with the community support that is the heartbeat of our progress and success. We are accomplishing this with a three-pronged strategy that gained us a national ranking in 2014 as the 13th best education foundation in the US and the top ranked education foundation in Tennessee.
Working with the Knox County Schools’ Superintendent, GSP analyzes school data to determine where limited private-sector resources could have the greatest impact on learning.
Together with local businesses and philanthropic leaders, GSP raises funds to support the most innovative and promising programs.
With public officials, GSP is working to ensure that the political culture is one that values and supports education.
