Studies suggest that the most important years for a child’s academic success occur before they start school, from birth to kindergarten. We’re proud of our “Parents as Teachers” program, as our little graduates enter elementary school more “kindergarten ready” than other children.
We help parents become in-home educators because we know that they are the first and most important teachers of their children. “Parents as Teachers” is a research-based, home-visitation program that meets the Parents as Teachers National Center’s quality standards.
The program is aligned with the Great Schools community-school initiative. This allows us to focus on 7 elementary schools and the surrounding communities, providing support to families with infants and preschoolers. Each community school has a site-based parent educator who leads parent/child group meetings, provides early childhood developmental resources, and enrolls families with children under age 3 (regardless of income). Parents are also trained to be better diagnosticians and healthcare providers for their children.
